THE GIFT OF SONG – My Lagan Love

Wednesday, December 21st, 2011

Happy Holidays!

I would like to gift you a free download of a brand-new recording of what I believe to be one of the most beautiful songs of all times – “My Lagan Love.” The song is set to an ancient traditional Irish air, first collected in 1903 in northern Donegal.  The English lyrics you hear in this version have been credited to Joseph Campbell (1879–1944, AKA Seosamh MacCathmhaoil and Joseph McCahill, among others).

In this recording, you will hear the sounds of the Uilleann Pipes (Irish bagpipes) played by local pipe master, Todd Denman.  Todd and I met this fall at the Fairfax Feis (Irish Dance & Music Festival) and this is our first collaboration.  I hope it will not be the last!  Special thanks to Todd for engineering and mixing the recording in addition to his exceptional performance.

To download the song to your music library, right click on the link ‘MY LAGAN LOVE’ (below) and select ‘Save link as’. This should give you the option to save it to your computer as an MP3 file. To simply play the song, just click on the link and you can listen:
